The Six Degrees of Barrack Obama

Being the one track minded gamer that I am I have decided to cleverly mix my current event blog with my English class topic using a game called "the six degrees of Kevin bacon". To all of you who do not know this game, the object is to connect two actors together using their movie roles in under six turns. I am going to change the rules a bit by connecting Halo: Reach and Barrack Obama, since Reach just came out and we are talking about Obama in class. here it goes, 1 Obama has issued the STEM challenge, 2 Microsoft is a sponsor of the STEM challenge, 3 Microsoft owns the halo intellectual properties. simple right. the STEM challenge is a attempt to educate children to become better leaders using video games because we all know kids care more about games than they do about school. The sad part is that wasn't even sarcasm, even crazy smart Asian kids love games more than school. China has gone loco over starcraft two. I digress, the challenge is for game developers, big time and independent alike. The program is aimed towards middle school students and the winner will receive money, fame, and a boring leadership seminar. Other than a few quotes of his on the official site, i'm not sure of Obama's involvement, previously he has referred to games as a health problem. Maybe his opinion of video games haven't changed and he sees this as an opportunity to make the problem a part of the solution. Of course Halo: Reach has nothing to do with this, I'm just so glad that its finally out and so sad that it's Bungie's last halo. I eagerly look forward to Bungie's next project.

p.s. my gamertag is tw1stysqu1re. All friend invites are welcome.

Who Likes Obama and Killing Babies? THIS GUY!

Before and during much of the 2008 election I had no clue who Barrack Obama was, but when I found out he was a promising black presidential candidate I quickly realized that I didn't care. Had I paid more attention to his campaign I would have known that he supports stem cell research and planned to expand the field, a goal that he has certainly reached. The Bush administration " limited the research to 21 cell lines already in existence" but under Obama's administration the National Institutes of Health can "provide $78 million to 44 scientists." I should probably mention that the embryos are donated from fertility clinic patients who no longer have any use for the embryo they had created, these embryo are destroyed in the process of obtaining stem cells .Last month a ban on federal spending was passed that would suspend all stem cell research leaving countless highly advanced specimen, in need of constant care, to parish. There is no need to worry though because recently an appeal was passed that allows for the continuation of funding while the ban is being reviewed.Obama's administration claims that this "could save research mice from being euthanized, cells in petri dishes from starving and scores of scientists from a suspension of paychecks." Stem cells may be a science that saves countless lives, but the sound the destruction of several day old embryos rings sweetly in my ears. In my honest opinion a man willing to pay for the murder of unwanted babies is truly a man fit to be America's president.

response a more perfect union

the biggest hindrance to improved race relations involving African Americans is black pride. there is a significant difference between love of one's culture and pride. pride was necessary for African Americans in the past to help them overcome the notion that they were an inferior race.today, that pride is no longer needed because African american children are raised to believe that all man are created equal. this pride only serves to bring back the pain of our ancestors and put us in a position to expect more be given to us for our forefather's suffering. our forefather's wanted equality, the right to vote, the right to get an education, the right own property that they could pass on to their children. loving one's culture means to understand and respect the past, not live in it. we as African Americans should honor their wishes and vote for not just  america's leader but also in community elections. we should thirst for knowledge not suffer through it. we should preserve big mama's house which holds our childhood memories and let it be the stage for future memories of generations after us.we fought the good fight and won, let us now enjoy the spoils of victory.
